Principle:
Piezo element are used on the knitting machines for the displacement of the Jacquard. The consists of two piezo ceramics which are isolated from each other with a layer of glass fibers.
Piezo ceramics have the property to deform itself if a voltage is set. A voltage of about 200V is set alternatingly on each side of the piezo element with switching from S1 and S2(see figure below).The piezo ceramics deforms itself and displace the needle to the left-or the right-hand side of the Jacquard guide.
